I am a Clinical Psychologist, the creator of Chairwork Psychotherapy, and one of the leaders of the Chairwork Psychotherapy Renaissance that is taking place in the world of Psychotherapy. Along with this, I am an ISST-Certified Advanced Schema Therapist, a Voice Dialogue practitioner, and a Harm Reduction Psychotherapist.

I previously served on the faculties of New York University, The Rockefeller University, the Yale University School of Medicine, and the Clinical Psychology Program at Teachers College/Columbia University. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 1993.

I am the Past-President of the Division on Addictions of the New York State Psychological Association (2023, 2015, 2011, 2005, 2001), and I have written and given presentations and trainings on Chairwork Psychotherapy, Schema Therapy, Harm Reduction Psychotherapy, and Contingency Management.
